What is Govardhan Poojan:
The festival of Govardhan Puja is celebrated on the next day of Deepawali i.e. Pratipada of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. People also know this festival by the name of Annakoot.

This festival has mythological significance. In this festival, a direct connection between nature and human beings is established. Godan or cow mother is worshiped at this festival.
It has been said in the scriptures that the cow is as pure as the pure water of the Ganges. Usually, this festival often falls on the next day of Deepawali, but sometimes there is a difference of one day between the festivals of Deepawali and Govardhan Puja.

The Pratikpada of Kartik Shukla Paksha is offered as a Bhog to God and raw-cooked food, fruits, flowers, various types of foods called Chhappan Bhoga. Then all the foods are distributed to your family and friends and then the offerings are received.

This incident is from the Dwapar era. Indra was being worshiped in Braj. Lord Krishna reached there with his Bal Sakhas and asked him who is being worshiped here. All the Gokul residents said that Devraj Indra's worship is being organized.
Then Lord Krishna told the people of Gokul that we do not benefit from Indra. It is their responsibility to rain and they only carry out their responsibility, while Govardhan Parvat promotes and protects our cow's wealth.

It is said that Lord Krishna's purpose behind breaking Indra's ego was to show the Braj people the importance of cow wealth and the environment. So that they protect them.

Govardhan receives such a title because it is the only permanent and stable remnant of Lord Krishna's time. While the Yamuna river of that period kept changing its stream from time to time, Govardhan existed in its original place in an unstable form.
